When an avatar does not look right, the image is usually the reason. Run through this before you upload.
Framing
- Head and shoulders, with a little room above the head.
- Face roughly toward the camera.
- Nothing crossing the face — hair, hands, microphones, glasses.
Lighting
- Even light across the face beats dramatic side lighting.
- Avoid a bright window directly behind the subject.
- Watch for heavy colour casts; they carry through.
Image quality
- Use the largest clean version you have.
- Avoid images already compressed several times over.
- Skip heavy beauty filters — they fight the result.
